New Band Sunday - Nirvana

Nirvana was an American rock band which was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in the year 1987. Nirvana had a lot of drummers until 1990 when Dave Grohl joined the band.  Nirvana established itself as part of the Seattle Grunge scene with the release of their first album Bleach in 1989. Nirvana developed their own sound on dynamic contrasts, often with quiet verses and loud choruses. But their great success was Nevermind in the year 1991. Kurt wrote for this album Nirvana’s most famous song „Smells like teen spirit“, one of the most important songs of the grunge wave. Nirvana released 4 studio albums

“Bleach” (1989)

“Nevermind” (1991)

“Incesticide” (1992)

“In Utero” (1993)

And after Kurt died in 1994, Dave and Krist didn’t want to continue with Nirvana.

A few years later Dave formed the Foo Fighters and until today Krist a known music critic.
